Akash kandil competition notice for your society

In Mumbai, Pune and across Maharashtra, the akash kandil hung at the balcony is part of Diwali. Many societies turn it into a competition: families, children and seniors make lanterns from paper, bamboo or waste material, and the entries light up the compound for the festival. A clear notice gets more entries and fewer arguments at judging time. Diwali 2026 is Sunday, 8 November, so entries usually close on Vasu Baras, Thursday, 5 November.

Checklist for the committee

Planning aid, not legal advice. This guide is a planning aid for society committees, not legal advice. Rules on firecrackers, noise, fire safety and use of common areas are set by courts, state governments, police and municipal authorities, and by your own society's bye-laws. They change, sometimes every year. Always check the current official order for your city before you post a notice.
